麋鹿林華人聯誼會慶祝成立十周年

Elk Grove Chinese Association Celebrates its 10^th Anniversary

二零零七年是麋鹿林聯誼會成立十周年。 今年聯誼會年會主要內容之一是慶祝我聯誼會成立十周年，經理事會籌辦，年會於六月十六日下午在Elliott Ranch小學禮堂召開。 到會會員有一百五十人左右。 會堂裡彩球高懸，歡語笑聲。 大家共聚一堂，回顧往事，感嘆時光流逝之快。 會長孫瑪瑞帶來了十年前聯誼會剛成立時的相冊。那時聯誼會的一些孩子們才七八歲， 而今已是十七八歲的高中畢業生和大學生了。飯後，大會正式開始。 先由會長孫瑪瑞作理事會工作報告。財務理事梁惠民因回香港缺席，吳炳威理事代作了財務報告。 接下來是頒發聯誼會模范家庭獎。 今年的模范家庭是吳炳威和胡佩瑛夫婦一家。孫瑪瑞會長還請了歷屆模范家庭上台和大家說幾句話。 這些模范家庭不但把自己的小家庭建設得融融和和，更是為聯誼會這個大家庭做了不少的貢獻。介紹模范家庭之後，合唱隊指揮江慧，合唱隊隊長陳建軍為今年卡拉OK比賽得獎者頒發了獎狀。副會長梁建華為第一屆青少年繪畫攝影比賽的獲獎者頒發了獎狀。大會的另一個重要的議程是改選理事會。 新理事候選人由會員提名產生。今年又十三名候選人。 他們是：陳建軍，吳炳威，鄧莉莉，谷芳芳，黃競天，黃長志，梁惠民，梁建華，孫瑪瑞，楊春力，楊軍，俞振強，和趙薇。參會的會員當場填了選票。 缺席會議的會員可以通過填缺席選票行使選舉的權利。 在由吳炳威和俞振強兩位理事負責的選舉小組驗票時，文藝表演登上了舞台。 先是由卡拉OK獲獎者表演了他們的獲獎節目，聯誼會的合唱團也演出了他們最近練習的歌曲﹐最後由韓秋萍表演了壓台戲。會員們還參觀了聯誼會攝影小組制作的攝影展覽。 大家一起共度了一個美好的星期天晚上。

On Saturday, June 16, we celebrated our 10th anniversary at Elliott Ranch Elementary School. More than 150 members attended the celebration/annual assembly. The Multipurpose Room at the school was decorated with colorful balloons. The photo club displayed its exhibition. At the dinner, members of different ages chatted and laughed together. Some members had known each other for 10 years through the association, others less years but no less the friendship.

After dinner, the annual meeting started. First, President Marui Sun delivered the Council Annual Work Report. Due to the absence of Treasurer Waiman Leung, who is vacationing at Hong Kong, council member Pat Eng gave the treasurer’s report. Then, it was the award ceremony for the Family of the Year. This year, Pat and Laura Eng were named “the Family of the Year.” At the ceremony, President Sun invited all past honorees of “the Family of the Year” to the stage. They are: Wendy and Charles Su, Marui Sun and Jioak Wang (deceased), Lili and Clifton (deceased) Lewis, Viena and Kenny Ma, Liming Liu and Shanfu Zhao, Fangfang Gu and Wenwen Xu, Jennifer Xie and Tony Huang. Each family made a brief speech at the stage.

Up next was the award ceremony for karaoke winners. Choir Captain Jianjun Chen and Choir Conductor Wai Yi Kong awarded each winner a certificate. The winners are: Lili Deng, first prize, Li Tang, second prize, Dwanzhen Hsu, and Michelle Shao, third prize, Jane Liang and William Au, Dong Ho, encouragement award.

One of the important items of the annual assembly is the election of the new council for the coming year. Council members Pat Eng and Jack Yu led the election committee. First, members nominated the candidates for the Council. There were 13 the nominees. They are: Jianjun Chen, Lili Deng, Pat Eng, Fangfang Gu, Charlie Huang, Waiman Leung, Jane Liang, Marui Sun, Eric Wang, Chunli Yang, Richard Yang, Jack Yu, and Wendy Zhao. After the nomination, the election committee passed out the ballots to every member. Members cast ballot at the scene. Members who were absent at the assembly could request absentee ballots.

When the election committee was reading the ballots, the stage was set for performance. The karaoke winners performed their winning songs. Then the association choir performed. Local famed soprano and member Qiuping Han sang the finale for the night.
